The Tara Team
The future of teaching and education starts with people setting out to create it.
Elizabeth Rary - Partner Success Manager
Liz is an Atlanta native with a passion for pushing herself and others in meeting their potential. A former sexual assault advocate, Liz has developed and implemented programs that alleviate the lack of diversity in the information provided to victims. Recently, Liz has honed her skills as a web developer through the Thinkful Full Stack Flex program.

Ian Cohen - Founder
Originally from Philadelphia, PA and a graduate of Emory University with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Ian entered the workforce as a teacher. He taught at Banneker High School in Atlanta, GA for two years as part of the Teach for America program. While teaching, Ian also worked with students to found the Girls and Boys Varsity soccer programs and was awarded Freshmen Teacher of the Year and Coach of the Year in 2013.
Following the completion of his second year of teaching, Ian formed the education non-profit, Next Generation Men & Women, with two other educators with the aim of re-imagining the educational experience and providing exposure and support for Atlanta’s most underserved students. As Executive Director, Ian grew NGM/W to ~200 students, over 30 partnerships, and raising ~$1M from 2015-17.
While founding TARA, Ian has also worked extensively as an adviser to entrepreneurs through the Center for Civic Innovation and in education policy at the local and state levels.
Ian is driven by the vision that life’s purpose can be found through learning and that all people could have continuous access to the experience of learning if we think boldly about creating an entirely new system.
